Background :

Kanna is the 28th heir to the Kirishima School of Karate which is based in Okinawa. This school teaches a rather powerful technique of unarmed combat. (Students are expected to be able to kill bulls with their bare hands!)

Kanna has lived her entire life in this tough, physically demanding atmosphere, so she is predictably a very skilled martial artist. She trains daily and wholeheartedly and thus, is a towering woman of great strength. She's also inherited a rather large appetite.

She arrived in the capitol in the year 1922 with Fujieda Ayame. She and Maria were the first members to join the Hanagumi. However, she had to go back to Okinawa later on in order to complete a personal task for her father's sake. She returned to active duty only after Oogami's arrival at the Teigeki.

Despite her intimidating size and strength, Kanna is openly friendly towards everyone she meets. People are easily drawn to her cheerful personality, especially children. She has a very rambunctious attitude and is not afraid to state her opinion regarding any subject.

Her frank nature enables her to take criticisms easily and deliberate on them seriously. The one exception to this is if it were Sumire doing the criticising. For some reason, she and Sumire exhibited an extreme dislike of one another almost immediately upon their first meeting. Their squabbles tend be enthusiastic and -- if unchecked -- can cause much property damage to their immediate surroundings (sometimes, courtesy of Iris). Still, deep inside, each holds a grudging respect for the other, but they will never admit such a thing even on pain of death.

Kanna is generally fearless -- except where snakes are involved.
