Kanzaki Sumire

[ royalty, wealth, sophistication ]Background :

Sumire is the only daughter to Kanzaki Shigeki (the manager of Kanzaki Heavy Industries) and Hinako, a famous actress. Her life so far has always been one of plenty. She doesn't seem to get along well with her father, although she is quite close to her grandfather.

Because of her psychic powers, Sumire was the original test pilot for the oubu units (the koubu prototypes) that were being developed by Kanzaki Heavy Industries. She worked with the development team for about three years there. She's extremely adept at the Kanzaki Fuujinryuu style of battle with the naginata, and she's rightly proud of the fact.

Recognising her spiritual prowess, Fujieda Ayame approached and extended an invitation to the young woman to join the Teikoku Kagekidan. For reasons of her own, Sumire agreed. Because of her pride and extreme self-confidence, however, her entry into the Hanagumi turned out to be an event that was anything but peaceful.

Personality :

Given her parentage, it's no wonder that Kanzaki Sumire acts the ways she does. A proud and outspoken individual, her wit can be very caustic at times, so, generally, she doesn't have many close friends. She can be quick to anger, especially when perceiving an insult to her own abilities. She is headstrong and has been known to disobey her commanding officers once in a while. This is one lady who knows what she wants and won't stop at anything to get it!

Sumire doesn't do anything by halves. Her competitive streak won't allow her to easily settle for anything less than a lead role in most of the Teigeki's plays. Her natural flair and charm serve her well up on stage; she has her legions of fans and admirers who pack the theatre hall every time.

Sumire doesn't get along very well with Kanna and Sakura, viewing one as uncouth and beneath her station, and the other as her rival. This argumentative trait later extends to include Orihime as well. In fact, comparing her with the young Italian is one sure way of getting Sumire mad. She does have an easy friendship with Iris, possibly due to the fact that the two share similar backgrounds.

She loves to dress up in fashionable (sometimes, outrageous) clothes, and enjoys going out on shopping sprees -- where she would usually convince Oogami to carry all of her packages for her. Finally, although she will never admit it, she is scared silly of spiders.
